The Chevrolet Monte Carlo LT And It's Features

By William

The Chevy Monte Carlo was Chevrolets reply to customers who wanted a sporty, stylish and comfortable car. Chevy Monte Carlo was introduced as a fashionable rear-drive V8 coupe in competition to Ford Thunderbird. It is liked very much by competitors of car racing. It has advanced over decades and won NASCAR race events.

From those early years -- which included big-block SS (Super Sport) editions -- the Monte Carlo evolved toward a more luxury-oriented persona, saw important downsizing (to optimize fuel efficiency) and soldiered on as a popular rear-drive sport car until 1988, when it was replaced by the Lumina car.

All models Chevy Monte Carlo follow the fashion of the contemporary mid-sized sedans along with Sports editions. In 1969, designers Elliot M. Estes and Dave Holls of Chevrolet originally designed the Chevy Monte Carlo based on the Cadillac Eldorado. They made changes by adding up new front-end sheet metal, rear fenders, etc.

The Chevrolet Monte Carlo received a major update for the 2006 model year and it remained a midsize two-door car that came in three trim levels: the base but reasonably well-equipped LS, the more upscale LT and the performance-oriented SS. Under the hood of LS and LT models is a 3.5-liter V6 with 211 horsepower, while the SS boasts a receptive 5.3-liter V8 with 303 hp. Remarkable numbers, yes. But they would've been even better if they powered the back wheels like Monte Carlos of years ago, especially in the case of the SS. A front-engine/rear-drive layout is typically preferable for optimum weight distribution and balanced handling, particularly when the engine is a heavy V8.

The current car that debuted in 2000 follows the Impala sedans style. These vehicles motivate designs of the old Monte Carlo models and GM Motorsports. Some individual features are stylized wheel flares and rear bumpers with vertically oriented tail lamps.

The Knight badge with a full gage cluster was a latest feature. The Chevy Monte Carlo has a number of pace car editions including trim level editions of LS, LT, and SS. The SS makes use of a 3.4 L OHV V6 engine. The 2006 Monte Carlo has a 3.5 L V6 bottom engine with 210 horsepower.

However, the Chevy Monte Carlos prospect remains a question after GMs formal announcement that production was ceased at the Oshawa Car Assembly Plant #1 in June 2007. Without any future plans of commencing production, Chevy Monte Carlos future is in doubt. - 21393
