The Purpose Of Auto Insurance

By Jerry Dodd

Most drivers today don't know what purpose having auto insurance holds. They often find themselves asking why its not legal to operate a vehicle without it and why it cost so much? Many people don't have a complete understanding of what auto insurance does for them. All they see is that its a way to cover monetary losses in case of an accident that isn't their fault. However, once they look into it they will see that auto insurance covers a wide rage of services that can prevent you from having a financial disaster. Some of these services include, health care, property damage on just about any vehicle, and depending on the company they might cover rental reimbursement and emergency assistance.

A comprehensive coverage can cover more than just collision and accident. They help cover you on many unexpected events. This varies with the insurer and the policy you have. They include, vandalism, theft, mischief, and even flood damage. This type of coverage benefits both the motorist and the banks when it comes to them lending out money. Most banks hold insurance on a car loan that can cover then even if the lendee loses the car in an accident or an unexpected event. The cost of the damages to the vehicle will be covered even if it doesnt involve other motorists.

Auto insurance also has a very controversial coverage known as GAP. This type of insurance covers things that most insurers dont do. This type of coverage will pay the lender the difference of the loan, even if the consumer owes more than the car is worth and the damage to the car exceeds its value.

Auto insurance has another purpose which is also a hidden gem. There is an uninsured motorists fee which allows all other motorists to breathe easy. This fee goes toward insurance for those who have no insurance, so that the insurance company will be able to release a check to you for your property even if another motorists did not have insurance and the accident was their fault. This adds protection for motorists everywhere, and provides a sense of security because there is simply going to be some way that your car will be able to be fixed!

Business owners are now even covered by auto insurance. The insurance provides them with a peace of mind in situation can can be very grim and hard to deal with. Business that are transportation based also use insurance to cover their drivers on todays dangerous roads.

Auto insurance can be very expensive. Having a good driving record will help you have a lower rate. So, if you want cheaper insurance, be a good and responsible driver. The high cost of insurance has helped discourage aggressive driving because no one wants to get into an accident and have to pay a higher rate of insurance.

The final purpose of auto insurance is to discourage lavished and unreasonable automobiles. Let's face it, if you have a half million dollar car, someone hasto insure it. So if you can't afford the few thousand dollar payment every month for that kind of vehicle, you probably wont even think about buying it. In a way this makes things more practice for new drivers to get less expensive, more timid cars. The safety rating as well as the make and model of the car can make a tremendous difference on the payment amount for insurance. This makes auto insurance a reality check for those of us who just want that really fast car to go.... really fast!

In conclusion, auto insurance servers many purposes in specific instances. The most important fact is that auto insurance allows us to operate a vehicle on a normal basis without wondering how we will pay for our vehicle if an emergency arises, and how we will pay for hospital bills if need be. Auto insurance can give motorists peace of mind, although it will sometimes be at quite a novel price. - 21393
