Government Auto Auctions - Are There Legitimate Online Auction Sites Out There?

By Lendell Oliver

"Subscibe To and Bid on Online Government Auto Auctions only after you learn the ropes"

Have you ever been scammed by a online seized vehicle auction site that promised you more great deals than anyone else? The promotion was great but in the end, after they had your money, there were very few real deals on vehicles that met your needs.

If there is a government auto, seized vehicle, or police auction site out there that I have not tried, I am not aware of it. Most of the sites I have tried are not worth the subscription fee. Many didn't deliver or stand behind their claims.

However, legitimate auto auction sites are out there and that is the good news. You can find great deals if you are willing to do some work to prepare to bid intelligently. This article will help you make the right decisions from the start.

I can vouch for the fact that you can purchase a used or seized car from an online auction site for a fraction of its' market value if you first DO the research, DO NOT stray from your numbers and most importantly BE PATIENT for the best deal. Also...and I ask that you take my word for it...stick to the top 3 or 4 sites that will find and sell you your next great car. They have more auctions, more vehicles and more support and training. They run an honest site and if you keep your eyes open and remain patient your dream car will become available at a great bargain. Not matter what you are looking for it is out there, trust me.

Rule #1 regarding online auction sites, and auctions in general is to start with a solid plan. In other words research the vehicle you are interested in at sites like Edmunds or Kelley Blue Book. These sites will give you all the information you need to determine value. Know your car inside and out and how options, mileage and condition effect market value. They stick with what you learned. If you have researched a Honda, don't start bidding on a Hummer just because it seems to be a good deal. You have to absolutely know a great deal when you see one. Once you complete the research you will be efficient and confident and that will lead to better bidding and a great buy.

After you have determined a fair value for the model you are interested in, use the top auction sites to see if you are in the ball park. These sites will show you what similar cars have sold for. Use more than one example and take an average. This check will tell you real value and could translate into a real deal once the bidding begins. Don't get into a bidding war just because you like a car. Another one, just like it, is just around the corner at the price you have set as a goal. Never overbid; remember you are looking for a deal. - 21393
