The standard hybrid car is an old version of plug-in hybrid car. When standard hybrid cars were first introduced in the market, people were overjoyed by knowing the fact that they now can own a car, and maintain it very easily. This car became very popular within no time, because of its eco-friendly characteristics, and fuel efficiency. The plug-in hybrid cars are not in the market yet, but the specifications, and functionalities we know from General Motors, and Toyota Motors give evidence that it will break all records of success of standard hybrid cars. In terms of fuel efficiency, both cars are very different. The average mileage of a hybrid car is 30+ mpg, whereas plug-in hybrids claim to make it 100+ mpg, which sounds too good to be true. However, if it comes up to its promise, then we shall anticipate a greener revolution within a few years when plug-in hybrids flood the market.

Gasoline causes a car to emit dangerous gases. The best thing about plug-in hybrid cars is that it rarely uses gasoline, so it is lot better than standard hybrid car, which uses bio-fuels or gasoline; both of them are very dangerous to environment.

Standard hybrid cars are cheaper than plug-in hybrid car, because the batteries, which are primary source of powering a plug-in hybrid car, are very expensive.

If we compare the weight of both these hybrid cars, we will find plug-in hybrid cars heavier than standard hybrid cars, because of the heavy weight of batteries that are present in plug-in hybrid cars. Plug-in hybrid cars use cleaner fuel than the stand hybrid cars, and that makes the maintenance of this car very easy.

As plug-in hybrid car uses less fuel, and goes on longer miles so it does not need to visit fuel station on frequent basis. On the other hand, standard hybrid cars are more than 50% less fuel-efficient, so that makes it a frequent visitor of any fuel station.

Both cars are designed for specific purposes. If you want to take the tour of city or go on a long drive, standard hybrid cars are best for it. For short tours like from home to office, plug-in hybrid cars should be your first choice. - 21393
