Inventing Hydrogen Vehicles

By Hillary Howell

Many companies are currently considering whether or not it is feasible to create hydrogen cars. They are really examining this concept. Most car manufacturers have already begun to develop hydrogen cars.

Most of these vehicles are not available for sale to the public just yet. Rather they are only available in demonstration models. The recorded number of hydrogen-powered public vehicles in the United States was 200 as of April 2007, mostly in California.

Funding has come from both private and government sources. There would be so many advantages to fueling a car on water. These include less pollution.

This new technology could be the solution to save the planet. Imagine the possibilities such as reducing damage to the ozone layer. There would also be drop in oil wars.

Plus, a benefit is the ability to breathe the air that is free of carbon monoxide. To summarize, water-powered cars would allow people the chance to travel cleaner. They would also travel cheaper and more effective.

It would also contribute to the drop in oil conflicts. You would be able to breathe the air that is free of carbon monoxide. Basically, water-powered cars would allow people the chance to travel cleaner.

A project is underway that aims to create a fuel cell-powered car. These generate hydrogen fuel from a tank of water. Scientists from the University of Minnesota and Israel's Weizmann Institute of Science are pioneering the technique.

According to New Scientist magazine, the Researchers have discovered that they can mix the element boron with water. This will produce hydrogen.

This could be a viable alternative to fossil fuels. Traditional hydrogen production is inefficient and costly. A boron and water-power would not release harmful toxins.

The only byproduct of the process is boron oxide. This can simply be turned back into boron. This would produce the same amount of energy of 40 liters of fuel tank.

The new way would use only 45 liters of water and 18 kg of boron. It is expected that the market will be ready. Expect to see something like this around 2009. - 21393
