Keep On Driving Past The Service Station, You Have A DIY Hydrogen Generator

By Alexis Jameson

When gasoline prices rise, everyone starts to think of ways to save gas. The output of exhaust gases from the typical vehicle should concern all of us. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to use water to fuel your car? For less than the price to fill most pickup trucks, you can build your own DIY hydrogen generator.

Just as the more expensive hybrid technology stores the excess energy available when a vehicle is coasting to a stop, the hydrogen generator also stores that excess energy. Most of today hybrid vehicles use batteries to store the excess energy that is just wasted by conventional automobiles. The hydrogen generator stores the excess energy by converting water into hydrogen and hydrogen oxide.

Both hydrogen and hydrogen oxide are very reactive gasses. They would both prefer to burn and produce water. When mixed with a little gasoline and put into an internal combustion engine, the result is power. The only exhaust caused by the hydrogen or hydrogen oxide gases is water. There will still be some carbon monoxide produced by the vehicle using gasoline, but the amount will be significantly less that for a vehicle that is powered by gasoline only. Hydrogen and hydrogen oxide add much more power to regular gasoline.

DIY hydrogen generator plans and kits abound on the internet. The first patent for a hydrogen generator was applied for in 1916. The needed parts are available in local hardware stores and are very simple. In fact, the wide mouth mason jar and plastic mayonnaise lid may be in your kitchen right now. In addition you will need assorted nuts and bolts and vacuum tubing. If you have to buy everything, you will spend about 65 dollars. You may be able to save that amount in two to three fill ups at the gas station.

Why should you build a DIY hydrogen generator? First it will save you money. Purchased prepared, these devices can cost up to 1000 dollars. Even that is a bargain because of the money saved on fuel. The DIY hydrogen generator will save you money over purchasing a hydrogen generator and will save you money at the pump.

Additionally, a DIY hydrogen generator decreases the emission gases from your vehicle. This technology could help clean the air for future generations.

A third reason to build a DIY hydrogen generator is that engines that burn hydrogen last longer. This means a longer time between replacing vehicles. - 21393
