When you go to Spain probably one of the last things you'll think about organising is your car hire - but you should definitely give it some thought as soon as possible. You can leave it until you get to the airport, but you can usually get a cheaper price if you book online first.

Before you even start to look for a rental companies you need to decide exactly what kind of car you need to hire. This will be affected by various things such as how much you are going to travel, how many people in your holiday party at how much to spend.

If you think that you're going to be doing a lot of travelling between Spanish cities, such as Barcelona and Madrid, then getting a car that is slightly bigger with more comfort may be important.

On the other hand if you are just going on short journeys between the Valencia airport and your accommodation then the car may not need to be so big.

One other thing that you need to consider is how many people you are going to take on holiday and how big they are. If you're going to have five adults in the car, and it better be big to avoid any kind of arguments and frustration!

You should always read the rental agreements before you book in Spain too, as you need to know exactly what the terms and conditions of the rental are. You don't want to have a shock when you get the car back!

Make sure you look at reviews on the internet of all the different car companies from people who have already been to Spain and used them so you get an idea of their quality.
