How To Fix Problems With Your Car CD Player

By Nell Harrison

Everyone enjoys listening to music while on drive. When CD player stops doing its job we take it to a repair shop. But before doing that we can try out few simple ways of car CD troubleshooting which may save us from paying huge amount for repair.

The first thing that should be done in trouble shooting is to find out the specific problem. One of the easy things that could help finding the defect is by checking whether the radio works properly or you can check the output volume of all speakers and check whether they are all equal. Once the specific defect is identified, the solution can be easily reached.

The first step is to determine where the problem is. Check whether it is in the radio or music player and the like. This can be done immediately by playing the radio. If the radio works it shows that there is some technical fault with the player. The speakers must also be checked if both are playing properly or if any one of the speakers is not.

The reason for not receiving the sound in the speaker may be due to break in flow of current through it. Buy a radio shack from any electronics shop and use it to check the current flow through the wires for speakers. The speaker's grill covers are unscrewed and snapped off. And then the mounted speakers are also removed.

Next we have to check the wiring of all connections. From an ordinary electronics shop get an electronic meter which is easily available. This electronic meter something like radio shack helps to check if current is flowing properly through the speaker wires. Separate the speaker which is usually mounted. This is done by unscrewing. Now by use of alligator clips to the wires of the speaker we check if we get reading. If we get a reading it means current is properly flowing through the wires but the problem is with blown out fuse which can be easily replaced. Now check if we can hear sound from the speaker. On the other hand if we see any reading it means there is a problem along the wire. If that is the case let us not try to repair the damaged or broken wire. Buy a new wire and try to look for the reading.

If the stereo or player set has some many other smaller parts with connections, the same is done with that also. The electric meter can be used and the reading can be checked.

There also appears a problem of disc error. In this case clean the disc drive using a lens cleaning solution. A drop of rubbing alcohol can be used for effecting the cleaning power.

Above steps can be followed to find the trouble in the CD player. But to prevent further problem it is essential to clean the CD before use with the help of soft cloth and a solvent. These are few steps of car CD troubleshooting. - 21393
