Your Good Driving Habits Could Save You A Lot

By Adriana Noton

If more people would pay attention to their habits while driving rather than this, that, and the other while driving, roadway fatalities would drop significantly in numbers. However, this doesn't seem to be an option for some drivers and they will never the less have to learn the hard way. The sad thing is that sometimes learning the hard way is too late when that person dies in a car accident due to negligent driving habits.

You should never talk on your cell phone while driving. The number of accidents that have caused the loss of life due to a cell phone being used while driving is growing. Using a phone while driving has to be one of the top worst driving habits there is and the most dangerous. Thankfully, in many places all over the world, cell phone use while driving is an illegal act.

Another cell phone issue that is one of the dumbest driving habits out there is trying to text while driving. Anyone who thinks this is a good idea needs to look ahead at that big truck they are about to ram in the back while texting. Texting takes your complete attention away from the road. This is one of the most deadly habits anyone could possibly have. Texting while operating a vehicle is also becoming an illegal offense.

It is terribly unnerving when another car is right on your tail and you have a child in the back. The worst fear for a lot of parents is for one of those infamous tailgaters to smash into the back of them when their small child is asleep in the car seat. If you have this as one of your driving habits, you need to revise and always make sure of ample space between you and drivers in front of you.

No one should complain about gas prices if they regularly drive over the specified speed limits. Any car that maintains a speed of over 60MPH is using more gas, no matter which way you look at it. One of the best driving habits to practice is to always follow the speed limits. You will not only save gas, but you will save lives as well.

Did you know that your motor idling during a traffic jam uses more gas too? Although this is sometimes an unavoidable situation, you can make sure to try and detour the places where you know for sure that traffic is going to be heavy. Saving on gas is one of the best driving habits you could have.

One driving habit that could cost you a lot in an accident is forgetting to turn on your turning signal when you plan to make a turn. If you are slowing down, this may not be enough of a warning to drivers behind you that you are going to slow enough to make a turn. There have been many wrecks due to someone nut using their turning signal at the appropriate times.

How many people do you think would be alive today if they had remembered to put on their seat belt before they started out in their car? Do you think they just figured that they were just going a little ways down the road and they would be straight back home? This is why many have died due to not wearing their seat belts. Accidents can happen close to home in just the same way as if they do farther from home. - 21393
