In this day and age, most of us who are of an age have to drive. We need to get to work, we need to get to school - we just need to get around, in other words. One reason a driving course is preferred over the one offered in school is because of the teacher. In a high school, the teacher may not be implicitly qualified as a driving instructor. Conversely, in an outside driving course, the teacher is specifically qualified. Moreover, it is often less stressful for new drivers to be taught by such a teacher. Often, being taught by a parent, uncle or aunt, guardian, et cetera, can be very stressful.

Another thing that is a known fact is that whenever someone that is not qualified is teaching driving, they will actually teach the student their own driving habits, which might not always be the best and right on point. After all, you, as the student are going to be tested on the correct way to drive and believe it or not, most of the time, people do not drive correctly. This certificate can actually make it a lot easier to get a license should you move to another country or state. Setting the Guidelines and Expectations Good training is reflected in quality work, as bad training is reflected in bad work, and prohibitive costs result due to comebacks. It is important to make sure that the training is top notch.

Many paint manufacturers have excellent training standards and it is a good policy to follow and enforce those standards. The following is a good example of good prep guidelines as given by a good paint company.

Contaminates that float around can ruin a paint job, and that applies to the surface, and the shop as well. To do this make sure, there is adequate filtration, and that it is frequently cleaned to the point of being almost sterile. Minute dust particles and hair are the worst offenders, making technicians walking dust magnets if the filtration system is inadequate.

Every day, and before each job, the shop must be thoroughly cleaned, top to bottom, as much as possible. Keep the spray booth clean always, and thoroughly wash it weekly. Check filter regularly and replace when necessary, as it affects health.

Before starting a job, make sure there is nothing like lamps mirrors, etc. around because they can cause cracking in the topcoat and the clear coat.

Before doing any surface prep, thoroughly wash the surface, all you need is plain old soap and water, because it removes all water- soluble material that can cause damage later. The vehicle must be scuffed with detergent and hot water to remove wax and sealants.

Prepping the Paint Surface You might want to try some fine waterproof sandpaper to scrub the surface. Some people like to use the scuff pads, those gray nylon types. Removing the painted area that has become damaged requires some grinding. Ideally, you will need sandpaper that is 80 grit and an orbital sander.

You will need to concentrate your grinding along the paint area that is damaged. In order to be successful you will have to see at least a quarter of an inch of color coat as well as clear coat and of course the undercoat as well. So the next step will be to featheredge the etching filler. This can be done right over the body filler or even on the bare metal. The purpose here is to provide protection both in adhesion and corrosion.

Once you have reached this stage then the next will be for the surface primer. It?s easy to see though that by setting and following guidelines and expectations that everyone knows what their job is and what they are responsible for. If there is a problem and a repair comeback shows up it becomes easier to determine where the breakdown occurred. This way you can go back to the drawing board so to speak and correct the problems where they are happening.

Pocket Bikes, When Are They Legal?

For a pocket bike to be street legal, it will take a little bit of work. Straight out of the box, pocket bikes lack a few things to be allowed on the streets, although specific rules vary from state to state. It is also not uncommon for pocket bikes to disqualify simply because they are miniature in size.

There are necessary requirements of motor vehicles for use on public roadways and most models will not meet these requirements. Pocket bikes usually fall in the category with motorcycles and most states require the seat of a motorcycle to be at least 25 inches off the ground.

In many cases, just riding a pocket bike out on the streets is considered reckless driving because of the sheer number of violations. The sum total of all the violations for riding a pocket bike in public could set you back as much as $2,000 in fines.

One other big feature that most bikes don't have is the rear indicator lights for night driving. This is in addition to the lack of rearview mirrors, horns, or signal lights for turns. These are the design restrictions that keep pocket bikes hobby vehicles to be driven on private grounds and off the streets.

All of these are essential requirements of vehicles to be street legal. Since they cannot be registered, the pocket bikes cannot have plates and unregistered vehicles cannot be operated on the public streets. Pocket bikes also cannot be insured, and with such small mufflers, there is a chance of violating noise pollution regulation in some areas.

There are some models of larger pocket bikes, or 'super' pocket bikes as they are referred to in contrast to mini bikes, that come with headlights, brake lights, turn signals, a speedometer and horn to meet nearly all the requirements.

Many of these larger bikes will miss a few key requirements from being eligible for registration. However, the modifications required are so small they can easily be overcome. Add a rear view mirror here and brackets for license plate there and all of the sudden the bike is registered as a motorcycle or home built vehicle.

Quick Guide to Troubleshoot A Stalled Engine

When you're waiting at a traffic light, stop sign, or any circumstance in which your car idles, that is when the engine produces the lowest level of emissions it ever will. Idling is critical for your vehicle's engine to remain in operation without requiring fuel. Unfortunately, problems manifest; engines can die while idling. The challenge is determining the root cause.

There are several steps you can take to help diagnose the issue, which I'll explain below. It's worth noting you'll need a few diagnostic tools. If you're not willing to purchase them and spend some time exploring your car's engine, you may be better served by having a mechanic look at it.

#1 - Test The Fuses

Follow the easiest and least expensive path first. In this case, that involves testing the fuses. To do so properly, you'll need a test light. There's a rod with a bulb attached on one end and a clamp on the other end. If the fuses are sound, the bulb will light up.

#2 - Scan For Codes

When anything goes wrong inside your car's engine, your vehicle will generate and store a diagnostic code. That code will provide a valuable clue regarding why your engine is stalling out. You'll need to use a special scanner or reader to access the code. If you don't own a scanner, you can usually purchase one for under $100 at your local auto supply store.

#3 - Check The Hoses

In order to continue idling properly, your car's engine relies on the vacuum supplied by a number of hoses. For example, a hose provides vacuum to the intake manifold. If there are any leakage or breaks in that hose, it can cause your engine to stall.

Check for any splits or ruptures that might be affecting the vacuum. If possible, have someone lightly place pressure on the gas pedal while you're looking under the hood. The reason is because the leaks will often be difficult to see, especially if they're on the underside of the hoses. Pressing on the gas pedal often produces a whistle that makes finding - and fixing - leaks easier.

Start With The Easiest Factors

There are a number of other tests you can perform to figure out why your engine may be stalling. For example, you may want to check the idle air control motor, look for tar build-up, and test whether the EGR valve is failing. The culprit might even be a malfunctioning torque converter that is preventing the clutch shoes from disengaging properly.

Having said that, the three items above are the easiest to check and least expensive to fix. Test the fuses, scan for diagnostic codes, and check the hoses for leaks. Unless you have a significant amount of auto repair experience, the other potential issues should be handled by a trained mechanic. - 21393
