Credit Cards and Choosing One

By Bob Jones

Almost everyone over the age of consent has or wants a credit card these days and they are accepted almost everywhere. There are three main kinds of credit card very common in America. The first main kind of credit card is travel and entertainment cards such as American Express or Diners Card. These have to be paid in full at the end of the month and are liberal on spending limits.

The second major sort of credit card is the bank card such as Visa, Master Cards, GM, and Ford cards distributed mainly by the banks. The bank defines the spending limit, which in bank speak, is known as the credit line and each bank offers different terms and conditions. Banks offer a selection of payment means: you may either pay the balance in full with no interest charges or pay the minimum or some part of the balance with an interest.

The other major sort of card is the retail store card, such as Sears, J.C. Penney, Shell or Mobil. These store cards and the ones from gas companies, which are known as fuel cards, are only accepted in specific countries. They usually do not carry annual fees. There is a wide disparity in the terms and conditions for these cards.

Different kinds of credit cards offer different options. Some are designed for individual consumers, while others are set up in ways that work best for small business needs. To know what type of credit card fits your needs, you should look over a few options.

How to Choose a Credit Card.

Credit cards have become a part of life for most people living in the west. It's becoming increasingly impossible to avoid them, especially for business men. So, if it is the first time you are seeking to enter into the world of plastic money, here are some of the basic things you should look out for.

First, compare the interest chargeable by all the credit cards for which you are eligible. While the rate may not remain fixed for ever, it's always advisable for first timers to go for the one charging the lowest rates.

Read the small print carefully, especially on the other charges that may be applied, like late-payment fees, annual fees, and whether there is a grace period which is normally given before the finance charges kick in.

Decide which spending limit is most appropriate for a person of your income. Also the fewer credit cards you have, the better placed you are to understand your spending.

Compare the services and other features such as the cash back incentives, or warranties, rebates and the like. Check whether the card is widely enough accepted to cater for your requirements.

You will do yourself a favour by familiarizing yourself with the following terms: 1] Annual Percentage Rate: this is the measure of the yearly cost of the credit. 2] Finance Charges: these are the total charges involving the transaction. 3] Period of Grace: This is the period the issuer allows you before he starts charging you interest on new purchases. (Note that not all credit cards have a grace period). - 21393

Car Rental Discounts and How to Get Them

By Wayne Swanson

We all like to get a price reduction on things we buy or rent, and car rental is no different but there are certain rules you need to adhere to if you want the best deal available.

First thing's first - that's finding at least four car rental agencies or service providers and to get access to their contact numbers, make use of the efficiency provided by the Internet. Before you make your choice, look through as many as feasible as the last thing you want to do is overlook what could be the best deal because you were tired of researching.

Always look at checking out of any special offers being promoted by the rental agency just the time you contact them to avail of deductions that can save you a few dollars. A lot of these car rental companies are usually merged or associated with an airline company or perhaps a hotel thus checking this out can be beneficial to you since it can reduce the cost of your rental.

The worst hassle that you can expect is the pick up and the car drop-off, so make sure that you discuss these issues in advance with the company, so that you are saved of any inconvenience later on. Choosing the type of vehicle should really be done carefully and wisely since using a large family vehicle even though there are only two of you will only cost you a lot of money.

Just when you thought you were lucky having such a good rental to close with, most car rental companies would ask you of some additional costs such as reservation fee for the car of your choice. Renting a vehicle doesn't have to be high-priced and if you are looking to keep the cost down here are some more ideas which may help. One useful tip is to visit the rental office early in the morning to find free upgrade offers that can be available just any time. The as they open arrival at the renting a car office can greatly benefit you since you will probably have the chance of getting a more luxurious car with no charge whatsoever due to some shortage of lower grade cars. It is highly likely that you would find a fabulous rental online, as several car companies try to vie with each other on the web, so starting to search here might be a good idea. If you want things to get done in a simpler manner, give your budget to the company, let them sort things out and ask them to give you the best deal that is feasible using your budget.

Remember to fill the fuel gas tank when returning the car otherwise you would have to shell out more than gasoline station rates, if you give them the responsibility of filling up. If you are worried about things like getting a hotel or an airline business reservation then you better look for packages with fly-drive-stay or fly-drive as these will not only grant you rental price reductions but can also save you all the accompanying worries. Any reputed travel agent would be able to guide you in such matters.

If you are a frequent flyer and have gathered some deduction points it is a good idea to redeem such bonus points against your car rental prices, and several rental companies accept these to offset the rental costs. You have to examine the effectiveness of this proposal based on the kind of the time you have left on the price reductions. Bear in mind that for you to get a hold of those price reductions you better not be shy in asking for them since they will not be given to you if you don't say so. - 21393

How To Corner Safely When Driving Your Car On Country Roads

By Ethan Melandri

Driving in great weather is something many of us love to do. We like to go out, feel the warm weather and let the sun shine down while we visit the country. Daily commutes tend to get boring, and stagnate. With new views and fresh air it is possible to enjoy your cars power while staying within the laws of the road.

UK roads in the country are tight, so when a curve comes up there is a phenomenon called the tightening radius bend. This condition is a danger for drivers, and is a leading cause of accidents. When you go around a corner the radius is the same as when you began to turn, so you don't have to adjust the wheel. On a curve in the country the bends are different, which means you have to adjust the wheel the further you go.

The typical example of a crash caused by a tightening radius bend is a when the driver turns into a corner at a speed they think suitable for the conditions and corner type, but mid way through the bend significantly tightens.

In an attempt to stay on course the driver applies more steering lock but the speed is too high and the car starts to understeer. To fight this the driver applies the brake sharply which worsens the understeer and the car ploughs on either into an oncoming car or off the road and into a ditch.

The countryside offers another challenge to drivers, especially in the summer. Since the bends can be quite tight it can be difficult to see the changes in the road. In the summer hedges, bushes, or trees can also obscure the curve. A driver can easily be caught by a sudden corner.

In order to avoid becoming another countryside crash statistic you need to use extra visual clues if the bend is obscured, and ensure that all of your braking and gear changes have been done before you enter the corner.

If you cannot see through the corner, look ahead for telegraph poles or lamp posts which are normally at the edge of the road and give advanced warning of the shape of the bend. If you are driving at night use the light from an on coming car's headlight bulbs as a guide. Only enter a bend at a speed that allows you to stop safely on your side of the road within the distance you can see and avoid unbalancing a car mid corner by braking or changing gear.

After the curve begins to dissipate you will be able to increase your speed again. There are other dangers in the country besides bends in the road for you to be watchful of. Mud, slower moving vehicles, and even livestock can create accidents. If you think "What If" when driving, you could avoid an accident. - 21393
