Mistakes That Negatively Affect Your Texas Car Insurance Quotes

By Ricardo Liguriano

Like most states, Texas recognizes the need for all drivers to obtain liability insurance. It's a wise precautionary measure on behalf of Texas because it requires people to be legally responsible for the accidents they cause or are determined to be at fault. From repairs to the vehicle they damage to the medical bills that arise out of the accident, the liability insurance covers it all.

The following are mistakes you may have made that cause increases in premiums and higher risks of being turned down by some insurance companies. These mistakes include any acts that might negatively affect your driving record like traffic tickets, vehicle violations, suspended license or DWI.

If you choose to have complete coverage for your vehicle and medical costs as well, this premium will be much higher. If you do not own your car but lease it or a finance company has a lien against it, you will also be required to carry both collision and liability insurance.

It's also wise to obtain this insurance if your vehicle has significant value and would be too expensive for you to fix or replace out of pocket. If you are looking for a company to provide you with both liability and collision you could talk to your finance company or auto loan provider for recommendations. They can provide you with texas car insurance quotes and you can find one that suits your budget.

Factors that will affect the premium include your age, the type of vehicle you drive, the area you live and drive in, your history of accidents and vehicle and traffic tickets together with your history of maintaining car insurance in the past. Each insurance company will provide you with texas car insurance quotes that are based on answers you provide in their questionnaire.

Because the state mandates you have insurance you should make every attempt to avoid making the aforementioned mistakes. They can be costly as well as pose a difficulty for obtaining insurance at all. Doing an online search for texas car insurance quotes will direct you to companies that are willing to provide you with insurance and at what rate.

To reduce your premium rate your insurance company might allow you take a defensive driving course if your high risk factor is a result of a poor driving record. - 21393

Auto Sales Training - How to Close the Deal

By Mak Habib

Customers who are looking to buy a new car have only five things holding them back. Any good salesman will tell you that the customer wants to be convinced to purchase from you and that is why they came to your lot. The right car, features, price, place and time must be perfect for them before they will purchase and if they did not think it was right for all of those things, they would not be there in the first place. So as a salesman, you must convince them that everything is just right for them to make their purchase.

They are Buying the Right Car Once a customer has picked out a car, they will usually linger around it opening doors and looking underneath it. This is your cue to reassure them that they have chosen the right car for their needs. Everyone wants to be reassured they are making the right purchase. There are some who will switch cars thinking they would rather have one with more or less features. Your job is to reassure them that "this" is the right car for them.

Car Sales Training may Leave you to Think Features are Unimportant Features are very important to customers. They want to know they are getting their money's worth and in many cases, the more features the better bargain they feel they are getting. You must convince them that they need the features this car has and that for the price they are getting a real bargain. Reassure them that they could not live without these features.

Having Pride in your Dealership Builds Confidence Along with selling the car and its features, you are also selling your dealership to the customer. Customers have to feel like they can trust a dealership before they buy from them. This is where you convince them that they have come to the right place to buy their car because you have excellent customer service and excellent mechanics that are more than qualified to do the needed upkeep on their car.

Automotive Sales Training Teaches you the Price is Right Most people enter a car lot knowing how much they want to spend and head straight for the cars in their price range. This makes your job easier because they already know what to expect when it comes to price. If they have confidence in the dealership, they will not even consider the price being a problem, after all they came to you.

Is the Time Right for Their Purchase In the economic downturn, many people are concerned this may not be a good time to make a major purchase. You must convince them that it is the perfect time that interest rates are low, prices are low and create an urgency that makes them act on that purchase. - 21393

Importance of Certifications When Choosing An Auto Technician

By Rand Stuck

This question apparently occurs to a lot of people who believe its a waste of money to consult a certified technician when it comes to their vehicles. Why not simply call in the neighborhood quack, who has always proved useful with a set of tools, instead? Well, there are various arguments against, but the strongest come in the form of the test lineup and mission statements of ASE (The Institute for Automotive Service Excellence) and I-CAR (Inter-Industry Conference on Auto Collision Repair). These are the two most reputable organizations that certify auto service technicians after conducting tests. Go through the brief backgrounds of each organization, their respective mission statements, and finally their test line-ups.

ASE (The Institute for Automotive Service Excellence)

Even 30-odd years ago, there was no way to tell whether an auto technician was competent. That is, there was no professional standard that auto technicians could adhere to. To fill in this vacuum, the autonomous, non-profit body known as National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) was set up in 1972. As of today, nearly 420,000 professionals can boast that they possess current ASE certifications. They work in all areas of the automotive service industry such as vehicle dealerships, single garages, fleets, and service stations.

How does a technician obtain an ASE certification? Well, applicants must register for and clear one or more of the ASEs 40-plus exams. The tests are segregated into specialty areas such as automobile, medium/heavy truck, truck equipment, school bus, and collision repair technicians, engine machinists, alternate fuels technicians, parts specialists, and collision damage estimators. When an applicant passes at least one exam and can provide proof of two years of relevant work experience, he can obtain an ASE certificate. However, this is not a one-time affair, because an ASE certified technician has to renew his ASE credentials every five years, which means he needs to prove that he is constantly eligible and has to be retested. These tests are conducted by ACT, which runs various academic and occupational testing programs. The ASE certification tests are conducted twice a year at over 800 locations in the USA. The exams focus largely on knowledge of relevant job-related skills and are not easy to pass. In fact, approximately one in three applicants fails.

Needless to say, a consumer stands to gain much from ASE certification. For one, it can become a measure of the knowledge and skills of a technician; second, it tells you a lot about a repair facilitys quality if it displays the ASE Blue Seal of Excellence logo on its signs and advertisements.

ASEs mission: To raise the quality of automotive repair and service through the testing and certification of repair and service professionals in the automotive industry.

In order to understand the process of ASE certification and testing, have a look at the tests as outlined on the organizations website (www.ase.com):

Now lets take a look at I-CAR

Established in 1979, the Inter-Industry Conference on Auto Collision Repair or I-CAR is an international, non-profit training organization committed to improving the quality, safety, and effectiveness of vehicle collision repair.

To that end, I-CAR promotes the concept of Outward Vision, which is a concept that aims to define the Ideal State of the collision industry as far as technical training is concerned. In this regard, I-CARs definition of the industrys Ideal State is:

That every person in the collision industry has the necessary technical knowledge and skills relevant to their position to ensure a complete and safe repair. I-CAR continues to develop and deliver technical training programs to professionals in all areas of the collision industry. Furthermore, I-CAR provides a communication forum for anyone interested in proper collision repair. Finally, that I-CAR's primary funding is derived from student tuition and services, insuring that I-CAR can remain unbiased in developing courses and services on an industry-wide basis.

The I-CAR Mission Statement:

To research, develop, and deliver quality technical educational programs related to collision repair; to raise the level of available knowledge and recognize professional achievement; thereby improving communication throughout the Collision Repair, Insurance, and related Industries for the ultimate benefit of the consumer.

These are some of the training courses offered through I-CAR for collision repair technicians:

You ought to be convinced by now, surely? If all that has been said here does not convince you that you need a skilled technician to work on your car, nothing will. As in every profession, there is a need for qualified, trained experts in the auto repair industry as well. And when you go to an ASE certified technician, you can be sure you are dealing with an individual who has kept himself updated on the latest happenings in the industry. Therefore, dont scrounge when it comes to taking care of your vehicle. Settle only for the best, and those few dollars more wont seem like a lot. - 21393

By Steven M. Mihajlov

A great alternative to driving a car or riding a bike is the motor scooter. Not only do they combat the rise in fuel prices, scooters are very easy to operate. Gas scooters come in a variety of sizes and styles, you would be sure to find the perfect scooter for your needs. Here are a few of the many benefits of owning a moped scooter.

Unlike the motorcycle, motor scooters are significantly easier to use. Scooters operation with just a throttle with no need to learn how to shift gears, so even kids can easily operate. In comparison to motorcycles, moped scooters are much lighter, engine is located above the rear axle below the seat, and riders rest feet on a platform instead of pedals.

Another benefit of moped scooters is the cost. You can find a quality gas scooter for under $1000. Annual car maintenance is well over that price and you will also spend much more money on fuel. You can see why scooters are so popular around the world and becoming desirable here in America.

Department of Transportation (DOT) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has approved moped scooters to use on roads. This is a nice benefit since now motor scooters can be driven on the street. With the Dot and EPA approval, mopeds are street legal and meet their strict standards in all 50 states. However, since many scooters can not travel fast, it is a good idea to stay off the interstate or highway.

By Marlen Pole

Say you truly think that you want to paint a car then get ready for a full task ahead of you. It doesnt mean that you can't or should not do it, it just means make sure youre ready to see the job done from beginning to end. If you do not finish the job completely or properly then youre going to be driving some thing that may be a little embarrassing to the eye at the least.

To paint a car takes careful planning and ensuring that you've all of the supplies you need and the time to go through at least a couple of the stages.

There are things that you are going to need by way of supplies. You would need masking tape, dust mask, goggles, sand paper, wax/grease remover, primer paint, paper for covering, car wash and detergent, paint sprayer, putty with knife.

When you purchase your sand-paper be certain you purchase fine and thick grit, as you will need both textures. The amount of primer and urethane based paint you require would be dependant on the size of your vehicle. Whether or not you want to use a paint sprayer is completely up to you, if you choose not to then the regular spray paint cans will do fine. Be sure you wear appropriate clothing when you go to paint a car so your skin isn't revealed.

Finally make sure youve the proper space to work in. You need to be able to work around your car. You most certainly need good ventilation, and you'll need to be capable to protect it against the factors.

First off you must really wash your car well. It doesnt matter how clean it would look to you unless you just washed it, there would be whatever debris on it that you must get rid of, otherwise the paint will not adhere properly. Then once you have it washed nice and clean you've to get all the old wax off it so thats where the wax/greaser remover comes in. Its really fundamental you go through these steps when you go to paint a car.

You will likely notice that you've a couple of rough spots on your current finish. Say you go to paint a car thats in this condition, you'll not get good coverage with the new paint. Put little pit marks made by stones or things like that just use a little putty to fill them in. The use the sandpaper to gently smooth the rough spots and small holes. Be sure you wipe off all the debris from sanding.

In order to paint a car, you must be absolutely sure that it's dry after your washing. This'll take a few hours. Make sure it does not get dirty once more. Next masking tape off the areas that you do not want to get paint on.

Completely prime the car. Then sand it gently again. Be sure to wipe the residue off.

Now youre ready to apply the base coat of the new color. Preferably with a spray gun. Completely spray it then let it dry for about 15 minutes. Then you can apply the second coat. Most often you can get away with 2 coats.

Let it dry for about 1 hour then you could apply the clear coat. Let dry fifteen minutes then re-apply. You'll in all likelihood need about 3 coats of the clear to get a good finish. - 21393
