How To Handle A Hit And Run Accident

By Graham McKenzie

You may be following the entire right rule while driving, being safe and protective as well as following all of the laws. The scariest part about driving for most people is not getting behind the wheel themselves but the fear of whom else is behind the wheel on the road. Not all follows the rules and that is how accidents happen.

One pretty common rule on the road is that everyone is expected to have car insurance. It is illegal in most states to drive around without insurance, and in states that it is not required it is considered decent to have it. Unfortunately, the most common drivers in accidental vehicle accidents are ones without insurance.

When you are in an accident you look forward to other person will stay at the scene and wait for the police to be called, you can fill out a report, switch over insurance companies and then deal with the damage later after you are off the road. If you are involved in an accident with someone who does not have insurance or for some other reason they are not wanting to face the police you might not have this experience. You could be involved in an accident and see the car that caused it speed off and never to be seen again.

When you are in the middle of a mishap and you car has been hit, try to maintain equanimity and attempt to note down the vehicle number expecting it to vacate the scene. In case the other driver has been decent enough to park and wait, note down the number, to be on the safer side.

If you want to file a claim with your insurance company, you have to make sure that the police take down both of your insurance numbers. If the person that was in an accident with you does not have insurance, and you have underinsured or uninsured vehicle coverage, your insurance company will pick up the cost of the accident up to the top limit of your policy.

You have to bear the deductible you have as per your policy. You may not have caused the mishap; even then you are expected to cough up the deductible so that your insurance provider can cater to the remaining expenditure. It may not ring right but it is far better than having to bear the entire expense. In a majority of the cases, hit and run drivers abscond from the scene, if you do not act immediately and note down the vehicle number. If the cops do manage to nab the offender, you may apprise your insurance company so that they may take legal action against the offender and claim the amount that is due and if you are keen, you may even drag them to civil court, in order to get back your deductible and any other additional expenses that you may have had to expend on account of the mishap. Hence, your timely alertness at the site of the accident will save you a lot of bother later. - 21393

Changing the Manufacturer Future: The Bentley Continental GT

By Ethan Melandri

Bentley's history is changing as a new chapter begins with the Continental GT. The GT was the first car to be produced by Volkswagen, when they took over ownership from Rolls Royce. This ended a 70 year relationship between Bentley and Rolls Royce.

Compared to the old, last of the line Bentleys like the Continental R and T, the new Continental GT was a massive leap forward in terms of styling, handling and construction. What made the new GT even more impressive was that despite the fact that it weighed over 2.3 tons, the Continental had the performance to match most modern supercars.

The vehicle can go from 0 to 60 in 4.7 seconds, with a top speed just below 200 miles per hour. For cornering this Bentley has an improved suspension that handles well, even with the bulk of the car.

The suspension system for the Continental GT has computer control for the air springs. This limits the body roll found on curves. The new system has also allowed the Bentley GT to have sport and comfort settings for the driver to choose what approach they want for the different road conditions.

Inside the Continental GT was a true four seater and, unlike other 2+2 designed cars, could easily carry four adults in exceptional comfort. The interior is a combination of fine leathers and exquisitely matched walnut woods. However all of the modern refinements are also present including satellite navigation, cruise control, high end audio system and even fully electric, heated and massaging front seats.

Under the bonnet was the extremely powerful six litre W12 engine that could deliver 550 bhp and 650 Nm of torque from very low down in the rev range. Power was delivered to a sophisticated four wheel drive system via a six speed automatic gearbox, which incorporated finger tip mounted controls on the steering wheel.

The Continental Bentley GT remains the true shape of the auto brand, even with Volkswagen's modern updates. The body is still large, with xenon headlamps, and the typical mesh grille. It is certainly a 21st century vehicle with presence and physique.

The Continental GT definitely proves a new direction for Bentley. With Volkswagen offering their full range of amenities Bentley will remain top notch. Not so surprising is the fact that the secret of the VW Phaeton is in using the components and structure of Bentley. This was part of the deal when Volkswagen took over Bentley and decided to continue production. - 21393

Is Navman a Reliable Brand of GPS Navigators?

By Joseph Aaron

If you look for GPS devices for your car, you will likely find a few brands and quickly realize that you are conflicted concerning which device to invest in. This is really difficult in cases where you are looking for something focused on affordability and portability. The variety found in your local mall may not be extensive, which might lead you to search online and attempt to find better options. From there, you'll be astounded at the number of GPS manufacturers are really out there. Navman GPS products are an example of the brands that you don't see normally because they own no shops in the US, but lots of them in the UK and Australia. Still, this company's present line-up of GPS systems seems quite attractive. Another great model to consider is the Garmin Nuvi 1200 Portable GPS Navigator.

Navman F15

The Navman F15 appears to be the one Navman GPS unit they'll make available in the US and, as one would imagine, US maps including Puerto Rico are provided. Even though the Navman F15 is not quite a widescreen GPS unit, the 3.5" touch screen combined with its straightforward design make it a very easy to use gadget overall. Plugging in the device turned out to be simpler than most other GPS models, which most often require some minor electrical work just for the device to operate like you need it to. These two characteristics serve to define the F15 as a great device for beginners to get started with GPS navigation while driving.

However, the navigation system itself may seriously annoy a few customers since it usually won't be as accurate as the other American made GPS devices on the market. There may be one or two times when you seem to go around in circles, but we're also aware of even more reports of it performing beautifully, so it may be influenced by the area you're traveling in. The points of interest may include a few restaurants and gas stations, but the saturation of POI's provided with Navman's software are rather anemic compared to the swarm of destinations that larger GPS companies can give you. The brief battery life will probably be disappointing as well, but ought to be understood because this particular GPS unit won't clean out your savings. Forgetting about the negatives, the Navman GPS is still pretty good due to its simple user interface and functions and its efficiency in planning the most sensible route and locating addresses.

Navman S35

The S35 comes with the same 3.5 inch screen as does the F15, and the housing looks quite stylish and it continues to be appropriately portable. The S35 is made just for use in Austrailia, provided with in excess of 500,000 points of interest for Aussie travelers and includes the text-to-speech engine which properly pronounces street names using an Australian accent. It also has a mileage expense reporter that is excellent for GPS owners who need to manage gasoline expenditures better. The latest maps of 2008 are also included.

Navman S45

The Navman S45 provides the same kinds of applications and appearance as the S35, except that the screen is wider; measuring 4.3 inches. Despite the widescreen addition, the device appears fairly portable. A comparable model is the Garmin Nuvi 1200 GPS Navigation System.

Navman GPS devices are stunted with regards to variety, but they all endeavor to be both portable yet also reliable. They accomplished their objective in producing a nice looking and portable design, but the product could stand some improvements on the accuracy side. - 21393

The Basics of Car Detailing

By Luke Lister

If you have a used car and want to make it look brand new again, car detailing is your best option. For many, it has gone far beyond simply making cars look better to the level of actually turning them into works of art. These auto experts know how to turn a car that was once old and dull looking into something worth more in both monetary value and admiration.

You might think people only rarely take cars in for detailing, but it is surprisingly common, and absolutely essential if you want to sell your car. A car than runs very well but does not look good at all won't get you the profit you're looking for. With detailing, you can greatly improve it, and the difference will likely more than cover what you paid.

Before you do anything, you need to know your car. You should also become familiar with what will happen at the detailing location. The focus will be on three different areas - the exterior, the tires, and the interior. The first of these is the most obvious as it sets your car apart from a long way off. A good spray painting job can make or break your potential at a single glance.

You will need to get a wheel and tire evaluation. If you've been washing your wheels on a regular basis, there will probably be less work to do, but if not, there will probably be some issues to address. On older cars, you'll often see wheels with black stains from the tar that has accumulated from break dust. This is an important thing to take care of before you look at the interior.

The interior of your car reflects how much the car has been used and taken care of. Detailing here helps take away general wear and tear. To potential buyers, it will seem as though the car was hardly ever touched and is a prized piece for collection. Once you know about all three areas, there are a few other points to remember before you start.

Take a look at the place where you are going to get detailing done. It should be in a cool, covered area so that the paint and wax are not exposed to too much moisture or heat. Obviously, you should then also not wash the car right away or leave it standing in the sun. If you do wash it, let gravity do its work naturally by washing from top to bottom.

Auto detailing should never be done on a car that's just off the road. Let the car cool for 20-30 minutes and then wipe, brush, or spray away wax on the outside so you can work. The same rule applies when you're washing a car. Cold water can damage parts that get hot, including the engine, so make sure you don't use it as you spray everything down.

It takes time and effort to make a car look good again, and you'll have to remain dedicated to the work. However, if you do, you can return any car to its original luster. - 21393
